The Detroit Lions and the Seattle Seahawks meet in a highly anticipated Week 2 matchup in the National Football League. The Seattle Seahawks are winless after one game in the NFL. The Seahawks lost their season opener to the Los Angeles Rams, a divisional foe.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions currently own a record of 1-0. The Lions started the season off on the right foot by winning their opening game on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both the Lions and the Packers are undefeated in the NFC North.
The Seattle Seahawks’ high expectations for the upcoming season have begun to dwindle. In their loss to the Rams at home, the Seahawks struggled mightily. The Seahawks defense let Matthew Stafford and the Rams score 30 points.
On offense for the Seahawks, Geno Smith was a major disappointment. Last year, despite starting all 16 games for the Seahawks, Smith finished with only 112 passing yards and one touchdown. D.K. Metcalf scored that touchdown. Kenneth Walker led the ground game with 12 carries for 64 yards for Week 1.
The Seattle Seahawks will be playing on the road in this game before returning home to host the Carolina Panthers the following week. In weeks three and four, Seattle will travel again to face the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively.
Among the NFL’s biggest victors was Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions squad when they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs. Jared Goff completed 25 of his 42 pass attempts for 253 yards and a touchdown. His best player, Amon Ra St. Brown, scored the touchdown. With 80 yards on four receptions, Josh Reynolds led the club.
David Montgomery, who was acquired from Chicago (a divisional foe) to lead the running game, was a key addition. On 21 carries, Montgomery gained 74 yards and a touchdown. The likelihood of him winning the NFL MVP is very low right now.
Two of the Chiefs’ four field goals came in the second half, as the Lions’ defense limited them to just 20 points. The Lions host this game and will also host Atlanta the following week. After that, on Thursday Night Football, the Lions will play their first divisional game on the road against the Green Bay Packers.
