The New Orleans Saints host the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Caesars Superdome this coming Thursday for an AFC vs NFC matchup featuring Derek Carr and Trevor Lawrence. While the Saints haven’t done great so far this season, Jacksonville is on the hunt to extend their 3-game winning streak and infiltrate the top 3 positions of the AFC.
After a strong 2-0 start to the season, the Saints have been struggling to get back on their feet. They narrowly lost against the Packers and got pummeled by the Buccaneers but then won 34-0 against the Patriots. Their most recent game was a loss against the Texans in which they were slightly favored prior to kickoff. The saints currently sit in 10th place in the NFC but they have the same 3-3 record than the Rams sitting in 7th place, meaning they can easily climb the standings if they manage to create some momentum for themselves.
As for the Jaguars, they already have the momentum the Saints are looking for. Jacksonville is simply looking to ride this momentum to the top of the AFC which is currently held by the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, both of which are 5-1. The Jaguars had some shaky showings against the Chiefs and Texans but have beaten the Falcons, Bills and Colts in a row. Overall, Trevor Lawrence has led the Jags offense to some impressive victories and are likely to be favored to win this encounter. Travis Etienne has 5 rushing touchdowns to his name this season and the Jacksonville defense has Josh Allen who has an impressive 7 sacks to his name so far. To put this into perspective, Alvin Kamara has only scored a single rushing touchdown and Carl Anderson has 4.5 sacks, both scoring below their opposition on Thursday.
