After their bye week, the Green Bay Packers will travel to Denver to take on the Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday. An NFC-AFC duel between two failing teams and a Super Bowl XXXII rematch will take place in Week 7.
The last time we saw the Green Bay Packers, they were beaten shut by the Las Vegas Raiders during a 17-13 loss. Green Bay had its bye week six. The Packers’ record after that defeat was 2-3. Although Jordan Love has displayed occasional moments of brilliance, he has also frequently played below average. It is hoped that Aaron Jones will return this week because the Packers offense is still not fully healthy this season.
The Packers led the Raiders 13-10 entering into the final period of their game, but they were unable to maintain their advantage. AJ Dillon topped the rush with 76 yards and a touchdown on just 20 carries, while Green Bay’s Jordan Love finished with 182 yards plus a trio of interceptions. Christian Watson also produced 91 yards from 3 catches.
Denver had their own “mini-bye” last week, playing on Thursday night. That game saw the Broncos fall to the Chiefs 19-8, dropping their season record to 1-5. The Broncos’ lone victory came versus Chicago, and the squad has lost 3 of its previous 4 matches by a score of 10 or more. Denver has problems on both ends of the football, but their defense must bear the most of the blame in this situation. Both the throw and the run have been impossible to slow down for the Broncos.
In the Chiefs game last Thursday, Denver was behind 16-0 going towards the final period yet still managed to score a few pretty insignificant scores. Only 95 yards, one touchdown, and 2 interceptions were accumulated by Russell Wilson. Javonte Williams gained 52 yards on the ground while Courtland Sutton scored on one of his 4 catches for 46 yards.
