In a meeting of NFC teams, the Dallas Cowboys will face the Los Angeles Rams at home in the AT&T Stadium.
After a Week 7 bye, the Dallas Cowboys stand 4-2 following a close victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. Prior to then, they destroyed the New England Patriots 38-3 and fell 42-10 to the San Francisco 49ers. They now focus on Week 8 against the Rams. The Cowboys were capable of traveling and defeating the other Los Angeles club in a closely contested “Monday Night Football” game before their last week off. Dallas does have a crucial game versus Philadelphia the following week, but they can’t afford to look ahead to the Rams.
The Cowboys have performed admirably at home under Mike McCarthy’s leadership. Since the start of the NFL season in 2022, they have prevailed in 10 consecutive matches at AT&T Stadium, including a 2-0 record this autumn in Arlington. Even more astounding is the way the Cowboys prevailed in both of those home matches. Dallas defeated the New England Patriots as well as New York Jets 68-13 overall to win the games comfortably.
The Los Angeles Rams, on the other hand, are 3-4 after a contentious 24-17 defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This year, the Rams have defeated the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and Seattle Seahawks. They have experienced near misses over the Philadelphia Eagles, 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, and, certainly, the Pittsburgh Steelers. In spite of the contentious call that cost the Rams the game versus Pittsburgh, Los Angeles faltered against an offensively challenged club in the second half. In the latter two quarters, the offense scored 8 points while the defense allowed 21.
The Rams’ offense hasn’t been reliable lately, despite their talent at scoring points. Over its last three games, LA has been averaging 19.0 points and has twice been limited to 17 points or less. That dry spell has been significantly influenced by Matthew Stafford‘s performance at quarterback. In their last 3 games, the Rams have averaged just 205.7 passing yards, and Matthew Stafford, their quarterback, has only completed 55.6% of those throws.
