In an NFC Wildcard game on January 14, the Detroit Lions (12-5) will host the Los Angeles Rams (10-7) at Ford Field.
The Rams’ entire team is healthy going into this game. This season, Stafford was unstoppable when Kyren Williams, Cooper Kupp, and Puka Nacua were all healthy. They had a 6-2 record and averaged over 26 points and close to 400 yards per game throughout the 8 games. After starting the season 3-3, the Rams lost 3 consecutive matches against teams who were headed to the playoffs: the Packers, Steelers, and Cowboys. As a result, they had a 3-6 record going into their Week 10 bye. The Rams claimed 6 of their next 7 matches following the bye, losing only in overtime to the Baltimore Ravens, the AFC’s top seed. Eighteen times, they have given up the ball (five fumbles and thirteen interceptions). Los Angeles has accumulated 26 throwing touchdowns and 18 running touchdowns in terms of touchdown scoring.
Goff is surrounded by a stellar collection of offensive players such as Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, and Sam LaPorta, and the Lions have had one of the finest offenses in the NFL all year long thanks to an offensive line that was among the best in the league. Sadly, LaPorta’s knee injury from Week 18 will probably keep him out of the lineup for Detroit’s encounter. Following their bye week, the Lions’ defense surrendered a median of 25.6 points per game and ranked 26th in terms of EPA/play in the 2nd half of the season. The defense probably won’t fare much better versus a completely healthy Rams attack than it did versus playoff teams overall this season. The Lions are now second in the NFL with 4,401 yards gained through the air and a median of 258.9 passing yards per contest this season.
