Conor Benn will make a triumphant return on February 3 in Vegas to face undefeated American Peter Dobson at The Chelsea within The Cosmopolitan hotel complex.
Benn (22-0, 14 KOs) returned to action last September by beating tough Mexican Rodolfo Orozco via points decision in Orlando and now wants a shot at big names and World title honors at Welterweight. First though he must get past Dobson (16-0, 9 KOs). But the Essex fighter is confident as ever for their clash.
Dobson will aim to take full advantage and deny Benn a future in elite welterweight division by dominating over 12 rounds in an eventful co-feature on an impressive bill featuring Austin Williams versus Connor Coyle for WBA International and IBF North American Middleweight titles. Dobson may look to shake things up and end his dreams of an advanced career path in boxing.
Peter Dobson, 33, remains unbeaten after 16 fights – nine wins coming early – and will look to add another stoppage victory to his record against an opponent that shows no sign of slowing down. Standing 5’10”, New Yorker Peter Dobson has an impressive knockout percentage that exceeds 50%.
Benn is currently training in Los Angeles under the watchful eyes of trainer George Liddard and Jimmy Sains in preparation to fight Dobson, but remains without a UK license due to an appeal filed with the British Boxing Board of Control against lifting of provisional suspension by National Anti-Doping Panel last July, awaiting results of that appeal from BBBC against lifting provisional suspension by NADP which Benn has yet to learn the outcome of.
Benn is the boxer with far more talent in terms of style; he is really powerful and explosive. He is at his best when he lets go and makes use of his strength and speed. In the ring, he has demonstrated KO power both forward and backward, and he hasn’t yet attained his physical peak.
