Game Preview

Monday, January 1st, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, is the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl between the Oregon Ducks and the Liberty Flames. During the Conference USA Championship Game, Liberty (13-0, 8-0 within Conference USA) defeated New Mexico State 49-35. At the Pac-12 Championship Game, Oregon (11-2, 8-2 in the conference) fell short versus Washington, 34–31. After being eliminated from the NCAA Football Playoffs by Washington with two 3-point losses, the Ducks will be eager to make an impact. This season, they have scored a minimum of 30 points in each game, and in 50% of those contests, they have scored over 40 points.

Quarterback Bo Nix will play in the Fiesta Bowl, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning swiftly confirmed during his initial press conference after the New Year’s Six bowl matchups were announced on Sunday. Heisman Trophy-contending senior quarterback Bo Nix has amassed 4,145 throwing yards, 40 touchdowns, and only 3 picks. Despite playing against weaker opponents, the Liberty defense, which he faces, has given up a minimum of 25 points in 7 matches so far this season.

Liberty enjoyed an incredible regular-season campaign, winning the conference championship and finishing with an undefeated record while destroying the majority of the opposition in Conference USA. The Flames did not play a Power 5 team for the whole season, hence their strength of schedule was considerably outside the top 100.

Head coach Jamey Chadwell‘s side is scheduled to face an Oregon squad in a few weeks, which is undoubtedly among the strongest 5-7 schools in the country at its best. Since Liberty’s defense was just thoroughly embarrassed by New Mexico State’s backup quarterback, Oregon is capable of scoring a minimum of 40 points in this game. On the other hand, Kaidon Salter ought to have success versus a Ducks defense which has had trouble stopping big plays this season, especially against the pass. The Flames are considered a top-10 offensive in most categories for a reason.
