On December 16 the New Mexico State Aggies and the Fresno State Bulldogs will play in the New Mexico Bowl at University Stadium (NM).
After suffering defeats to UMass, Liberty, and Hawaii in their shaky 2-3 start to the season, the Aggies went on an 8-game winning run that lasted until November. The Fresno State Bulldogs finished 6th in the Mountain West conference with an overall record of 8-4 and a 4-4 record in the regular-season campaign. Due to health concerns, head coach Jeff Tedford has departed the squad. Tim Skipper, the linebackers coach and assistant head coach, will take over as head coach for the forthcoming bowl game. Mikey Keene, the quarterback at Fresno State, has passed for 2,596 yards, 9 interceptions, and 21 touchdowns, while receiver Erik Brooks leads the receiving group with 5 score grabs and 711 yards, and Malik Sherrod leads the rushers with 876 yards and 9 scores. The defense at Fresno State has recorded 26 quarterback sacks and 16 pass interceptions.
