The November 24th college football game between the Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-6) and the Iowa Hawkeyes (9-2) will take place at Memorial Stadium Lincoln.
The Iowa Hawkeyes defeated Illinois 15–13 at Kinnick Stadium last week. Having completed with a QB rating of 92.17, quarterback Deacon Hill completed 19 out of 29 attempts for 167 yards and 1 touchdown in that game. Despite averaging 18.8 points per game, the Hawkeyes won 8 of their first ten games this season, largely thanks to their defense. In that span, Iowa managed just 122 yards a game, 8 touchdowns, and 8 pass interceptions. After a contentious defeat to Minnesota in late October, Iowa has won three straight games to secure a position in the Big Ten championship game. The Hawkeyes are rated 16th going into this week’s College Football games. Ultimately, the Hawkeyes’ defense allowed Illinois a total of 282 yards and 67 yards were given up on the ground, while 215 yards were gained via passes.
On the other hand, the Cornhuskers began the season with a.500 clip through their first ten games. With an average of just 18.3 PPG over that time, Nebraska’s offensive performance was essentially the same. With a passing average of 127.3 yards per game, 8 touchdowns, and a total of 14 interceptions, the Cornhuskers had serious passing game issues.
The Huskers won 5 of 6 games from the middle of September into the end of October, but they are currently on a three-game losing run going into this week. They were defeated 24-17 in overtime by the Wisconsin Badgers in their last game, with a 3 yard TD run by Braelon Allen. Although the Hawkeyes have won 8 of the previous ten games in the series, Nebraska dominates the overall record all-time between these two programs 30-20-3.
