The New Orleans Saints, with a perfect 2-0 record, will travel to face the Green Bay Packers on the road in one of the most anticipated Week 3 NFL Matchups.
The New Orleans Saints are one of three teams in the NFL with a 2-0 record that are leading their division in the NFC South. After opening the season with a victory over the Titans, the Saints followed that up with a Monday Night Football victory over the Panthers. After thrashing the Bears in Week 1, the Packers lost by a field goal in the waning seconds of Week 2’s game at Atlanta.
The loss of Jamaal Williams was the bad news in the New Orleans Saints’ Monday Night Football victory. The length of time Williams spends on the NFL’s Injury Report is something to keep an eye on. Alvin Kamara won’t rejoin the Saints until after Week 3.
The good news was that Tony Jones Jr. emerged and rushed for two touchdowns in the victory. Taysom Hill has 12 carries and 79 yards as the Saints’ leading rusher heading into Week 3.
Dennis Allen’s offense has not been blown away by rookie quarterback Derek Carr in his debut season. However, Carr has done his job well enough to lead the squad to two victories. Michael Thomas and Chris Olave are two outstanding options for Carr as a wideout.
Although Olave has more yards (almost 200) on the season, Carr has relied heavily on Thomas in the passing game. The passing game as a whole will boost the New Orleans Saints’ offensive statistics this season.
According to NFL statistics, the Packers have had some offensive success despite the loss of Aaron Rodgers for the first time this season. The Packers’ 31 points per game are good for second most in the NFL. Six of Jordan Love’s passes for scores have been intercepted in the first two games.
Today is the opening home game of the 2023 season for Green Bay. The Detroit Lions will be visiting next Thursday for the NFL’s Thursday Night Football. The Lions have already played twice on Thursday Night Football this season. Predictions for the Green Bay Packers will be challenging because of the unknown consistency of Jordan Love.
